According to the United States Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics, women are about two thirds more likely than men to be victims of violence. Incidents of violent crime against women include murders, rapes, sexual assaults, robberies, and both aggravated and simple assaults. What would you do if confronted by an attacker? Do you have a plan to fall back on when life or death decisions need to be made immediately? With the confidence of knowing how to effectively defend yourself against an attack, you are less likely to look or act like a victim. Pro Gym's Self-Defense Course for Women and Girls teaches skills and techniques to become mentally and physically prepared to handle aggressive behavior or a violent attack.
Since no one knows how or when an attack will happen, we need to have a survival plan to fall back on. Women need to have some bottom-line survival decisions made before violence strikes. Mental conditioning is as necessary as the practice of physical skills. Mind-setting prepares you for a crisis before it happens. Your brain is like a computer, ready to respond with what has been programmed into it. The best analogy is a family fire drill. Whether in a raging house fire or a violent attack, if you have a mindset of what you are going to do, or how you will respond, it will give you a point of reference to fall back on when decisions need to be made immediately.
Women need to know skills to help recognize, reduce, and avoid aggressive behavior, and techniques to defend themselves against a violent attack. Pro Gym teaches women defenses and escapes from an attacker while standing up or if taken to the ground. Techniques are taught to submit and disable an attacker with effective strikes, kicks, chokes, and joint locks from all positions. The proper use and effects of Pepper Spray is also taught at Pro Gym's classes for women. Pepper Spray is one of the most immediate and effective ways to defend your self against an attack without having to use physical force or a weapon. With the knowledge and confidence this course offers, you are less likely to look like, act like, or become a victim.
As the women's self defense instructor at Pro Gym, I have helped women who have felt afraid, were victims of violence, or just wanted to be more physically fit. I encourage every woman to take a self-defense class to build your confidence, improve your physical condition, and be prepared to defend yourself against aggressive behavior or a violent attack!
